Meet tom

Tom Royals is a husband, father, veteran, and former Naval Flight Officer who is ready to take the values that guided him flying combat missions over Afghanistan and Iraq to Congress to fight for the commonsense conservative values of hardworking Maryland families in Congress.

As the next Representative for Maryland’s Sixth Congressional District, Tom will fight for children to be educated, not indoctrinated, in the classroom, for the rights of parents, to stop out-of-control spending in Washington and to secure our nation’s southern border in order to stop the flow of lethal opioids and violent crime into Maryland. He will always stand strong for our Second Amendment rights, our police, and our veterans.

As a father of nine, Tom will fight for a safer, more prosperous future for every Maryland family.

Tom grew up in Maryland, blessed with parents who taught him and his siblings to dedicate their lives in service to God and country.

After witnessing the horrors inflicted on our nation by radical Islamic terrorists on 9/11, Tom decided to emulate the role model of his grandfather who served in World War II, Vietnam, and Korea. In a 2002 application letter to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Tom wrote, I want to “earn the right to defend my country” and “when I die, I want to know that I have led a noble life in the service of God, country, and others.”

That unwavering commitment to service, faith, and country — combined with an unbreakable resolve to secure a better future for his nine children — is what drives Tom today.

Upon graduation from Annapolis, Tom was commissioned as an Officer in the Navy. He attended flight school in Pensacola, Florida and earned his wings as a Naval Flight Officer. Deployed overseas, Tom flew F-18 Super Hornets as a Weapons Systems Officer off the deck of aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf on combat missions over Afghanistan and Iraq. He flew close air support to support and defend our troops on the ground and destroyed enemy explosives intended to kill Americans. For successful combat sorties in-country, Tom was awarded a Strike Flight Air Medal.

After his service in the Navy, Tom earned an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and built a successful career as an IT sales executive.

Tom has been married for 15 years to the love of his life, Cathleen Corcoran. Tom and Cathleen met in Emmitsburg, Maryland at the Mother Seton Shrine at the Annual Sea Services Mass in October 2003. Together they have nine children, Thomas, James, Richard, Colette, Genevieve, Vivian, Josephine, Vincent, and Charlotte, ranging in age from high schoolers to a toddler. When not on the campaign trail, you can find Tom teaching the finer points of how to hit a baseball or learning the dance moves to his daughters’ favorite songs.
